Janice Maynard is a traditional country artist straight from the heart of Texas. She has been likened to some of the greatest classic country female singers of all time, yet has a distinct country voice that’s all her own. Born into a musical family, and then later marrying into one, Janice has made singing country music a way of life for her. The only explanation for her unique, pure, heartfelt way of delivering a song is that it is simply, and unmistakably a God-given talent.
Growing up, her father’s job kept her and her sister over seas quite a bit through out their childhood, but not without every classic country album you could think of. Her Dad had them all. Janice relished the times they spent back home in central Texas at family reunions when her Dad, uncles, aunts, and cousins would sing and play up into the wee hours of the night. She loved sitting at their feet, listening intently. Those times had a strong impact on Janice and were the foundation that shaped her passion for music. She later married into a very talented musical family, soaking up all the musical knowledge she could and enjoying all the picking and singing that went on, on a daily basis. “Everybody in the family plays, sings, or both. It’s great!” she says.
In 2010, Janice began performing on the Texas Opry circuit. She was a guest performer on the Shotgun Red Show and Tru Country, both airing on RFD TV. In that same year she met and began working with producer and Grammy award winner, Bobby Flores, for her second album. She also began making guest appearances with his band, The Yellow Rose Band. During that time she discovered her song writing abilities and wrote or co-wrote six of the songs on the new album with Bobby Flores for Yellow Rose Records. The title cut I’ll Take My Chances has been nominated for Pure Country Song of The Year for the 18th Annual AWA Awards to be held in March of 2014. Janice’s new album has also been nominated for album of the year, and she has been nominated for Pure Country Female Vocalist of the Year.
Janice is currently performing all over the Lone Star State with her own band, Country Stardust. They have also been nominated for Pure Country Duo/Group of the Year! With her husband, son, and daughter included in the band, they are able to exhibit some very unique family harmonies. Her 16 year old son is their lead guitar player, and two of Janice’s brothers-in-law, Jerry and Steve Maynard, lend their seasoned talents to the band as well. Janice Maynard and The Country Stardust Band have a lot to offer with five vocalists included in their group. They are the upcoming premier traditional country dance band. A Texas native, Janice Maynard is excited about her future in country music and is passionately dedicated to helping keep traditional country music alive!
